Using Masks on Web
Masks let you select a specific part of your image to suggest a change. It’s a simple way to tell the AI: “Only change this area, and leave the rest as it is.”
How it works
- Click the Mask icon in the toolbar
- Draw a freehand shape around the area you want to modify
- While the mask is active, you can draw or erase inside that area
- When you’re ready, write a prompt to describe the change you want
Once you disable the mask, your brushwork will disappear.
Heads up
Canvas influence will only affect the masked region.
Two ways to guide the AI with masks:
1. Draw inside the mask
Sketch directly within the masked area to suggest what you want to see.
Perfect for adding details or adjusting shapes without touching the rest of the image.

2. Erase + Draw
Erase part of the masked region to remove unwanted elements, then draw to guide the replacement.Great when you want to reshape or fully replace a section while staying in control.

Pro-Tip
Use the mask to sketch ideas or clean up shapes before prompting. Think of it as a temporary layer that helps direct the AI without modifying the original image.
Heads Up
Masks work best when the selected area isn’t too small. Very tiny masks may lead to less predictable results.
