BLNG Assistant

Web Shortcuts

BLNG supports a full set of keyboard shortcuts on the web (Mac and Windows) so you can move quickly without reaching for the toolbar. On macOS use Cmd; on Windows use Ctrl. Most shortcuts work while the editor (canvas) has focus.

The same list is in the app. Open Help > Shortcuts from the right end of the toolbar and the Keyboard Shortcuts panel opens with a search field for finding one by name.

View modes

View-mode shortcuts change how a generated or reference image is compared against your canvas, and they are the one group that works regardless of which panel has focus. What each layout shows is on Canvas & Views.

ViewShortcut
Canvas viewAlt + 1

Masks

These apply while you are working on a mask, and several of them reuse keys that mean something else in the editor. For what masks are and how to build one, see Masks.

ActionShortcut
Apply maskEnter
Toggle / clear the selectionCmd/Ctrl + D
Invert selectionCmd/Ctrl + Shift + I
Invert maskShift + I
Create mask via copyCmd/Ctrl + J
Disable / Enable maskShift + click the mask thumbnail

Cmd/Ctrl + D is the one key that changes meaning: in the editor it duplicates the selected layer, and with a mask or a live selection active it toggles or clears that selection instead.

Brush

ActionShortcut
Decrease brush size[
Increase brush size]
Show / Hide brush cursorTab

These three take over while the Brush or Eraser is active, so the bracket keys and Tab drive the brush instead of arranging layers or cycling the selection.

Layer opacity

With a layer selected, press a number key to set its opacity: 1–9 for 10%–90%, and 0 for 100% (press 0 0 quickly for 0%).

Canvas modifiers (hold)

Some keys only do something while you drag: Space pans, Shift constrains and snaps, Alt duplicates, and Cmd/Ctrl turns a corner handle into a crop. See Trackpad & Mouse.
