CAD Visualization
BLNG turns jewelry CAD files into photorealistic renders. Import a GLB or other 3D model, or use a flat CAD render as a reference, and prompt for materials, lighting and environment; your geometry stays exactly as modeled.
What you need
- A CAD export, either a 3D model file or a rendered image.
- An internet connection. AI generation and 3D conversion both run in the cloud.
Option A. Import the 3D model
- Use the Import button (Cmd/Ctrl + I) or drag and drop your model onto the canvas. Export GLB from your CAD tool where you can: it is the one format BLNG uses as-is, with no conversion step. See Preparing 3D Files for Import.
- Frame the model with the 3D view modes: one viewport for a single angle, or the Quad 3D view (Alt + 5) to line up Perspective, Front, Right, and Top at once. See 3D on the Canvas.
- Angle the model the way you want it seen, then prompt for the materials, lighting, and environment you want. Generation reads the model's current view on the canvas, so the angle you leave it at is the angle you get.
A GLB carries its materials and textures inside the file, so the model arrives looking the way your CAD tool exported it. If the surfaces read wrong, fix them in CAD and re-export.
Option B. Render from a CAD image
- Import or paste your flat CAD render onto the canvas, or add it as a reference in the Chat panel.
- Set its Influence to High or Full so the AI keeps the exact geometry. See Influence.
- Prompt for realism, for example: "Photorealistic render of this part in anodized aluminum, soft studio lighting, neutral background."
- Pick a scene style for the backdrop and generate. See Scene Styles.
No supported export?
CAD-native formats (.3dm, STEP, FBX) cannot be imported. Re-export as GLB from your CAD tool, converting NURBS or polysurfaces to meshes first. See Preparing 3D Files for Import.
If that is not an option either, capture your model cleanly from the front, side, and three-quarter, then follow Option B with those screenshots. You lose the live 3D object, but the render workflow is identical.
Finishing and export
- Use Split view to compare the AI render against your CAD source and confirm the geometry held. See Canvas & Views.
- Apply Remove background or the Transparent scene style for clean cutouts. See AI Operations.
- Export with Download (Cmd/Ctrl + S) or Copy layers as image (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + C). See Export & Share.
Tips & pitfalls
- Keep CAD influence high; this workflow is about beautifying real geometry, not reinventing it.
- The geometry is already right, so spend the prompt on material, lighting, and environment rather than on shape.
- For precise geometry, importing the model gives more control over angle and framing than rendering from a single flat image.
