Package Design

Use BLNG to design product packaging (boxes, labels, pouches, and mockups) by combining AI generation with the canvas tools for text, shapes, and brand assets. This guide walks through building a packaging concept and presenting it as a realistic mockup.

What you need

  • A design open in the editor.
  • Any brand assets you want to include, such as a logo or pattern, ready to import.
  1. Step 1. Generate the packaging concept

    1. In the Chat panel, describe the packaging you want, for example: "A matte black perfume box with gold foil accents, studio lighting."
    2. Choose a scene style that suits the presentation: White or a Colored backdrop for a styled shot, or Transparent to isolate the package for compositing. See Scene Styles.
    3. Generate, then use Try again to explore variations and Add to canvas to keep the one you like. See Chat Panel.
  2. Step 2. Add brand assets and copy

    1. Import your logo or artwork with the Import button (Cmd/Ctrl + I), or drag and drop it onto the canvas. Keep it on its own layer so it stays easy to reposition and safe from re-rendering. See Layers.
    2. Add product copy with the Text tool (T). An action bar appears with the type controls, things like the font, the size, and the alignment. See Text.
    3. Use the Shape tool for layout guides, panels, or die-line references. Shapes and text on the canvas become part of the canvas reference, so the AI builds on them instead of ignoring them.
  3. Step 3. Refine with the AI

With your assets placed, open the chat and raise the canvas influence so the AI works with your logo and copy instead of around them, then prompt for the finishing touches: embossing, foil, a specific surface texture. See Influence.

  4. Step 4. Present as a mockup

    • For a dimensional mockup, right-click the packaging image on the canvas and choose Generate 3D under AI Tools to view the box from any angle. See 2D to 3D.
    • For a clean catalog cutout, run Remove background on the result, or generate it with the Transparent scene style. See AI Operations.
    • Export with Download (Cmd/Ctrl + S) or Copy Layers as an image (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + C). See Export & Share.

Best practices

  • Never ask the AI to render your text. Small type loses legibility the moment it is re-interpreted. Set logos and legal copy as real Text and image layers on top, and they stay exactly as you placed them.
  • Match the scene style to the rest of the line if the packaging belongs to a wider collection. See Collections & Pairings.
